Ryan Crosby MSW, RYT

Ryan has taught yoga for more than 20 years to people of all ages and abilities, in a wide variety of settings. She brings a rich and varied background to her teaching, which is evident in her gentle yet energizing classes. Ryan focuses on finding alignment and stability in poses while at the same time exploring balance in form and freedom in movement. She enjoys exploring the many facets of yoga with her students. In all of her work, Ryan brings the interconnection of mind, body and spirit to the forefront and strives to make yoga accessible to everyone.

Prior to beginning her teaching career, she received her MSW from Tulane University. She studied in India with the Himalayan Institute and is registered with Yoga Alliance at 500 hour level, she is also a Certifed TRE® Provider.

Personal Statement

As both a teacher and a student of yoga I’ve found there’s always something for to learn. It was the physical practice that first drew me to yoga, but it has been the yoga philosophy I’ve come to most to appreciate.

Some years ago, my interest in movement led me to Nia, a dance technique, that I’ve been doing ever since as it is a wonderful complement to yoga. It has strongly influenced my practice and teaching. Yoga for me is a place and it is about body/mind awareness, community, self-care, balance, listening, giving/receiving – many of the things I value most.

Therapeutic tremoring, is a relaxation technique I have added to my teachings. It is based on the idea, backed by recent research, that stress and tension are both psychological and physical. Therapeutic tremoring can contribute to a sense of well-being and is an effective tool for self care that I enjoy sharing with others.
